Valencia is the capital of the autonomy Valencian Community and
Spain’s third largest town. As Valencia city is within reach of airport Manisses, you will be able to douse in its
impressive city’s life in a spot.
Valencia, the city
Besides its historic townscape and proudly tradition, Valencia exposes
its dynamic and modern side with the daring architecture of the ‘City
of Arts and Sciences’ (Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències). Among
others, Europe’s biggest aquarium, the L'Oceanogràfic, is situated
there.
But definitely, its cultural heritage is not suffering from that, since
it is ever-present at the town’s lively places, the famous municipal
market hall and the horchaterias, where, typically for this region and
especially very popular in summer, the beverage Horchata, made of
ground almonds and tigernuts, is sold.
Celebrations
Whether at the splendid Fallas Festival in spring, where Valencia
blossoms in artistic and lavish decorated papier-mâché sculptures
(Fallas), which ceremoniously get burnt around midnight on March 19th,
or at the American’s Cup, Valencia caters for all tastes.
For some, Valencia is for its charming atmosphere the perfect place for a longer stop, for bodacious nightlife or for studying.

Real Spain
Playa Gandia is situated on the South East coast of Spain on the Costa Azahar. Approx 120km from Alicante airport to the South
and only 70km from Valencia airport to the North, both airports are
serviced by the major budget airlines and offer choice of car hire.

situated in 2007 for access to Valencia, the host city of the 32nd

We
would recommend hiring a car as this will give you the freedom to
explore your surroundings aswell as transferring you to and from the
resort. However taxi's are available but can work out more expensive
than hiring a car.
Playa Gandia's modern and palm tree lined
beachfront boasts, many shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. The
majority of holidaymakers in Gandia are Spanish, the restaurants are
therefore typically Spanish with little English spoken but you can get
by with a phrase book and the right hand signals, as the locals are
very welcoming and friendly. Walking away from the beachfront into the
side streets, more bars and restaurants can be found, all with similar
menus to that of the beachfront offering fresh fish, salads, cooked
meats and of course the Valencian dish of Paella.
The
beach at Gandia is prepared daily in the early hours by huge tractor pulled rakes
cleaning the sand ready for a relaxing day's sunbathing. Beach beds and
chairs along with sun-shades can be hired daily and there are fresh
water showers every 200 metres with beach bars selling cold drinks, ice
creams and snacks.
Pedalo boats and surf canoes are available
for hire, and for the more enthusiastic, a wind surfing &
surf-kiting centre can also be found. The shore gently shelves out to
sea that is patrolled by lifeguards throughout the season.
Sea
Fishing is available in the port area into the river or from the
out-crop of rocks at the entrance of the port into the open sea. Advice
on bait and locations can be given upon request. There is also a fully
stocked tackle shop behind the port.
Playa Gandia is fairly
quite in May and June. In July more people start to arrive especially
at weekends. In August (Spain’s holiday season) Gandia is at its most
busy. Whilst not at all rowdy, an extremely lively environment enjoyed
to the full by families from grandchildren to grandparents.

The northernmost town on the Costa Blanca or the southern most on the Costa del Azahar (depending on your allegiance) is the industrial town of Gandia, I am calling it a town but it is generally regarded as a city. With a population of around 77,000, Gandia sits on the River Serpis about 65 kilometres south of Valencia, and has two separate areas – the town and the beach. Not so well known to International tourists, the wonderful sandy beaches of Gandia have long been popular with the Spanish who flock there in their thousands each year. The town itself does not have much appeal as a holiday destination, being more of a working town, but it does have an interesting history and a number of fascinating places to visit, the best known being the Palau Ducal former home of the Borja family. Gandia was originally settled by Iberians and later by Romans and Moors and was later a university town, becoming an important cultural and commercial centre in the 15th and 16th centuries. One of Gandia’s famous residents was Ausiàs March born in 1397 and considered by many the finest Valencian poet. The port of Gandia was founded in 1886, the railway line to Alcoy in 1893. Being one of the largest cities around, Gandia attracts many tourists
just for shopping. With a huge shopping mall area outside of Gandia,
major supermarkets and stores can be found. (Carrefour or Aldi just
to name a few.).
Apart of shopping
for daily needs, Gandia is also an interesting place for sightseeing
holidays. One major tourist attraction is the Palace of Santo Duque
just at one end of the old city center. The building, with many different
influences over the past centuries, is famous for its patio de las
armas and a huge stairway. It has been declared a spanish national
monument. Really worth a visit.
In addition,
while you are in Gandia, you might want to visit the church La
Colegiata at the plaza de la constitucion.and the old university
building Antigua Universidad. A little bit to the south of Gandia
you find the city of Oliva with a beautiful old town center, which
you should also visit.
The beach of Gandia
One main attraction
of Gandia is its sandy beach. With a length of about 11
km it is the attraction, particularly for tourists from Spain or
other counties. With a Gandia
weather of sometimes over 40 in summer, it is one
of the best places to be on a hot summer day. To sum it up, if
