Croatia - the New Tourism Star of the European Union

This is a story about a land of a thousand islands, her magical nature and rich heritage, her great Men whose great deeds have forever etched the name of Croatia in large letters on the map of the world. This is a story about a land whose beauties have been celebrated since ancient times. From Cassiodorus, who wrote of the divine life led by Patricians on her shores, to Dante, who wrote his immortal verses, enthralled by the epic scenes of the blue expanse, and all the way to George Bernard Shaw, who found his paradise on Earth right here. Croatia has always been a place of true inspiration.

Visiting the Town of Rovinj

Take a tour of Croatian Town of Rovinj in Rovinj, Croatia -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by Geo Beats Holidays.

The dense city of Rovinj, Croatia sits beautifully on a peninsula in the Adriatic Sea, and is one of the few places where the ancient Romance language, Istiot, is still spoken.

The Church of Saint Eufemia is seen towering over the buildings that make up the city's hill.

This Croatian town is packed with tall homes and shops that dominate a majority of the peninsula's coastline.

Bordering the town's homes and buildings are lush, natural forests filled with evergreen Alpine trees.

Rovinj is known for its pristine seaside area and is still a thriving fishing port.

Numerous ancient structures line the city, including palaces of Gothic and Venetian style and picturesque stone abodes.

Some say the charm of this popular country has even increased since the war of the early 1990s – the Croats’ appreciation of the good things in life, their warmth and sense of unity, and feelings of pride in their country all combine to make it a hugely welcoming place in which to live and travel.

Nothing can take away from its 1778km of beautiful coastline, which is dotted with well over 1,000 islands basking in the clean and clear waters of the Adriatic, nor the diverse and stunning landscapes of the interior.

Croatia’s complex and intriguing history has left behind a wonderful hot-potch of towns and villages throughout the country, some vibrant and lively, others quaint and rustic. A trip around the country is a veritable history lesson in the Baroque, Habsburg, Venetian, Roman, Medieval, and 19th century Central European eras.
